Description

Every winter, dozens of college football bowl games take place, but one the most unusual games happened in 1972 between the Oklahoma Sooners and Penn State Nittany Lions. The Sooners dominated the first Sugar Bowl broadcast at night, winning by a score of 14-0 against the Lions. Later, as a result of using ineligible players, the Sooners were ordered to forfeit seven wins from their 1972 season, including their on-field win over the Nittany Lions. However, Coach Joe Paterno and Penn State refused to accept the forfeit, and the bowl game is officially recorded as one of the most unique losses for Penn State in a college bowl game. Another unique item in bowls is our Trophy Bowl award. Suitable for bowl games as well many other sporting events, this beautiful silver bowl comes mounted to a marble base. Our designers will engrave up to five lines on the engraving plate attached to the base. Available in three sizes, prices start at under $65.
