According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Bodybuilding is much like any other sport. To be successful, you must dedicate yourself 100% to your training, diet and mental approach.”

Starting March 1, all that hard work and dedication will be on display at the 2018 Arnold Sports Festival. The festival will kick off its worldwide tour at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio from March 1through March 4. After the festival in the United States, the event travels to four other countries including Australia, Brazil, South Africa, and Spain. Ohio is the only state in the U.S. to host the Arnold Sports Festival (ASF).

Arnold Turns 70

Schwarzenegger recently marked a milestone in his life by turning 70 years old in July, but the former Mr. Olympia is still active in the world of body building. “I look forward to continuing my worldwide fitness crusade in 2018 as we again travel to five continents to promote the Arnold Classic multi-sports festival – the largest multi-sports festival in the world,” Schwarzenegger said. According to Evolutionofbodybuilding.net, Schwarzenegger attends every Arnold Sports Festival around the world. He loves to interact with the fans and the body builders who participate in the festival events.

Men’s Bodybuilding Trophy with 2 Sizes 11″ and 15.5″

Fans expect to see Schwarzenegger at the 2018 ASF as it celebrates 30 years in existence in March. The festival’s events have varied from year to year, but each year promises plenty to do and see. The 2018 USA Arnold Sports Festival will feature more than 18,000 athletes from 80 nations competing in more than 75 sports and events, including International Federation of Body Building & Fitness (IFBB) Pro League events. The IFBB sanctioned events are Men’s Open Bodybuilding, Men’s 212, Men’s Physique, Fitness, Figure, Bikini, Women’s Physique and Pro Wheelchair. New this year is the Men’s Classic Physique competition which has 32 competitors and presents the winner with a $5,000 check. The ASF will also host amateur events for the twelfth straight year in a row. Sponsored by the largest amateur bodybuilding organization in the U.S., the National Physique Committee (NPC), the amateur events include Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Bikini, and Physique championships. More than 800 amateur athletes from 80 nations will compete. In addition to the bodybuilding competitions, the ASF hosts several strength and combat sports, a health and fitness expo, and several youth events.

Perhaps the biggest draw to the annual ASF is the IFBB Professional Men’s Open Body Building event, usually just called the Arnold Classic. RxMuscle’s Dave Palumbo predicts this will be an exciting event because of the 14 invitees to the competition. Participants for the 2018 Arnold Classic include Cedric McMillan, who is the reigning 2017 champ, the emerging star William Bonac, 2014 Champ Dennis Wolf, and 2015 Champ Dexter Jackson. Any of these athletes may take the top position away from McMillan and earn the grand prize of $130,000, but Dexter Jackson could be the fan favorite. The 48 year old Jackson is the only person to win the Arnold Classic five times. He placed first in this category in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2013, and 2015. Nicknamed “The Blade” by friends and fans, Jackson has won a record-setting 28 IFBB professional bodybuilding titles, including Mr. Olympia in 2008.
